Analytical

Strategic Thinking

“But accuracy means something to me. It's vital to my sense of values. I've learned not to trust people who are inaccurate. Every aviator knows that if mechanics are inaccurate, aircraft crash.” -Charles Lindbergh

People with strong Analytical talents challenge others to “Prove it.”

Some would call me a cynic or a sceptic, I see myself as a pragmatist or realist. Facts matter to me and I really struggle to understand how someone can make a decision without the facts. Facts are dependable and allow for accurate and confident decision making. I have an instinctive eye for data that does not make sense, especially numbers. I then love investigating further until I can understand exactly why they did not make sense. In most cases this is due to inaccuracies. I take my own accuracy very seriously which is why I double check everything before committing to an answer, so don't rush me. I will tell you when I am ready.

MY unique TALENT

MY SUPerpower

Accuracy of information

MY instinctive Ability

Analytical describes the natural  ability to sense the accuracy or validity of data (its dependability). You will continuously interrogate a data set until you deem it to be accurate.

The drive I naturally bring

You have a relentless pursuit for the truth. As a result you encourage and manage thinking rooted in the best methods for investigating, interrogating and testing data. You drive the science behind what we know. You also ensure that emotion does not cloud judgement, leading to inaccuracies.

What can I naturally create?

You create trust in a decision by ensuring that it is based on reality (the truth). You ensure that decisions are 100% accurate, every time.

MANAGING MY EXPECTATIONS

I like...

To take time to investigate the accuracy/validity/integrity of data so that I can make an accurate decision from the start;

to triple check everything I do to ensure no mistakes are ever made.

I connect easily to people who...

Are intelligent, have the facts;

are pragmatic and think things through carefully before committing to a course of action;

are accurate and detailed.

I am NOT known for...

Speculating, rushing a decision;

enjoying being told that I am wrong in my thinking;

being empathetic or allowing emotion to override or cloud facts.

I get frustrated or distressed when...

I have to make a decision or examine information without the necessary time or detail available;

working with people who do not know what they are talking about;

people who make assumptions, or 'guess';

my opinion is not trusted.

I can be perceived by some people as...

Being cynical or negative, pernickety, unemotional or argumentative.

how best to work with me:

Give me roles that involve data analysis.

Don't waste my time with conjecture, know what you are talking about.

If you want an accurate answer, ask me, but don't expect me to give it to you until I am ready.

Have a thick skin - i like challenging, finding holes in logic and mistakes.

BEING MORE EFFECTIVE

know this:

You search for the reasons why things are the way they are.

You think about the factors that might affect a situation and what causes certain reactions.You take a more critical approach to what others might quickly accept as truth. You want to see the proof.

Some people may reject you and your questioning ways because you insist that facts be verified, theories be sound, and reasoning be logical. Some people may feel you are negative or unnecessarily critical when, from your standpoint, you are simply trying to understand something.

Analytical talents are valuable because they enable you to dig deep, find the root causes and effects, and then develop clear thoughts based on facts. This type of thinking helps you gain clarity about excellence and how it can be attained.

try this:

Direct your logical, objective approach to find the reasons behind important decisions.Take the time to identify credible sources you can rely on. Determine the most helpful books, websites, or other sources that can serve as trustworthy sources or references.

Choose assignments or work in which you are able to analyze data, find patterns, or organize ideas.

When you are working with a group to plan a new initiative or project, be involved in the early stages. You will be able to assess the feasibility and direction of the plan before it gets too far into the process.

Develop your analytical skills by sharing ideas with outstanding analysts who specialize in your area.

Listen to people with strong Strategic, Belief, or Empathy talents. Their insights and intuitions are difficult to measure, but their assessments are often accurate and valuable nonetheless.

Facing your personal challenge:

Because you are cynical by nature and instinctively refuse to believe in anything until proven, you can waste a lot of time focusing on certain aspects of life that in reality require less black and white and more grey. Focusing on where accuracy is beneficial or critical is key.

Watch out for: Not everything needs to be analysed. Facts are only useful in some places.
