Significance

Influencing

“All good men and women must take responsibility to create legacies that will take the next generation to a level we could only imagine.” —Jim Rohn

People with strong Significance talents want others to see their worth.

My life must have meaning in all I do. I have this relentless drive that I need to become someone who is recognised, heard and valued by others in all aspects of my life. I want to do important work and make a difference. The work I do and how I have lived will determine my legacy, which is ultimately how I want people to remember me. I focus on driving actions in areas that can have the greatest impact on a system. In other words change happens when you apply the right force, in the right way and at the right place. For me that is normally dealing with the person at the top, even if this means that I must be the person at the top.

MY unique TALENT

MY SUPerpower

Boldness

MY instinctive Ability

You have a relentless drive to make an impact and leave behind a legacy. You will not stop until you have made your mark, your way. You have an instinctive ability to lead.

The drive I naturally bring

You bring a powerful, persuasive energy that relentlessly propels you towards important situations in which you seek to lead. You know that the only way you can make a substantial impact is through being in charge. A key part of this is getting people to recognise the importance of what is happening in a moment, so that they pay attention, simply because important moments can change the course of history.

What can I naturally create?

You are a change agent, a catalyst and an influencer. You are prepared to create empires that have the power to create a better world.

MANAGING MY EXPECTATIONS

I like...

To lead up front;

to impact a society at its most significant level;

to make a difference in all I do, while leaving behind a lasting legacy through integrating every aspect of my life;

playing important roles in important situations;

being admired and being seen as credible by important people.

I connect easily to people who...

have an attitude that is positive and compelling;

are driven, influential and well connected;

will recognise and appreciate my contribution;

are driven to do something great with their lives in making a difference to others.

I am NOT known for...

Playing small with my life;

taking a back seat;

being inconspicuous or insignificant;

wanting to be average or settling for mediocrity;

just doing a job;

backing off from positions of impact.

I get frustrated or distressed when...

I just have to do a job for the sake of it;

I am not recognised or admired by credible people for what I know I have already achieved;

I have to do stuff that is not mine to drive;

I have to work on insignificant stuff that I believe does not make a difference to anything.

I can be perceived by some people as...

Being vain, conceited or too self important.

how best to work with me:

Give me the important stuff to work on, the stuff that makes a difference.

I thrive on recognition, if I have made a real difference then let it be known.

Give me situations where I can influence other important people.

I thrive/feed off the right attitude so I love seeing that in the people I work with.

BEING MORE EFFECTIVE

know this:

You probably enjoy receiving public recognition for the differences you make.

You want to have an impact on other people, groups, and society as a whole.

You want the contributions you make to be viewed as substantial, powerful, and significant.

Significance talents are sometimes perceived as egotism or a need for attention.

try this:

Help others raise the bar.

Significant people do important things. Imagine the legacy you want to leave. Picture yourself at retirement, looking back on a life that has made the world a better place. What will you have done to get there?

Make a list of the goals, achievements, and qualifications you crave and post them where you will see them every day. Use this list to inspire yourself.

If you perform best when given independence, share that insight with your manager. Be ready to give examples of how you have succeeded with that kind of freedom. After recognizing the value of this insight, your manager likely will give you the space you need to create exceptional results.

Share your dreams and goals with your colleagues to keep you reaching and accountable for your mission. Your ambitions may motivate them to reach for outcomes they had never before considered.

Stay focused on performance. Your strong Significance theme will drive you to claim outstanding goals.

Facing your personal challenge:

Your challenge is the nature of the legacy you will leave behind. What will people remember you for? Will you build something for yourself that will make you look great or will you do it for others? How important is people knowing what you have done to you?

Watch out for: Feeling ignored by people you look up to.

Key question(s)

What is the ultimate legacy to leave behind? When should it not be about what you have accomplished?
